## V skratke

- From 1 January 2026 the minimum wage is €915 a month, €99 more than in 2025.
- The hourly rate for a 40-hour week is €5.259.
- Total labour cost for the employer rose to €1,246.23 a month.
- The increase also affects firms that pay no one the minimum — through premiums and minimum wage claims.

The Slovak minimum wage rose by €99 in 2026 to €915 a month. It is the
largest year-on-year increase in recent years, and it affects even companies
that pay no one the minimum wage.

The new figures

    Indicator20252026

        Monthly minimum wage€816€915
        Hourly rate, 40-hour week€4.690€5.259
        Total labour cost€1,111.38€1,246.23

The 12.1 % increase means an employer pays roughly €135 more per month for
    a minimum-wage worker than in 2025.

Why it affects firms paying more

Minimum wage claims are derived from the minimum wage
according to the job difficulty grade. An employee in the third or fourth
grade has a minimum entitlement well above €915 — and it rises with the
    minimum wage.

Premiums for night work, weekend work, public holidays and arduous conditions
are also tied to the minimum wage. The increase therefore raises payroll costs
even where nobody earns the minimum.

What to check

Whether employees are correctly assigned to a job difficulty grade.
Whether employment contracts state pay below the new minimum entitlement.
Whether your payroll software calculates premiums from the new figure.
For part-time work the hourly rate rises proportionally.
